The American Red Cross has sent more than 1,000 volunteers to the areas affected by Hurricane Helene, with around 25 of them being from the organization's Central Appalachian region, according to Red Cross officials.

Clean-up and recovery efforts continue in North Carolina following Hurricane Helene which is now known as one of the worst storms in U.S. history. As locals try to regroup, American Red Cross volunteers from The Valley are on their way to help.
