The Foreign Office considers the United Arab Emirates safe to travel to – aside from advising British tourists to take the usual travel precautions against crime while visiting. Though not directly involved in the conflict, the UAE’s proximity to Iran over the Persian Gulf has prompted travel concerns.

However, the rapidly escalating conflict in the Middle East is jeopardising the safety of travel across the region, and over the last two days multiple airlines have opted to cancel or temporarily suspend their operations. So, if you have a trip booked to Dubai, here is everything you need to know about travelling there.

UAE airlines Emirates and flydubai have cancelled flights on Thursday due to “regional unrest” as tensions in the Middle East reached boiling point. The airlines have cancelled all flights from Dubai to Iraq, Iran and Jordan. Emirates also cancelled flights to the UK, Oman and Kuwait.

The Foreign Office has warned that there is a "high threat of terrorist attack globally affecting UK interests and British nationals" in the UAE, amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Lebanon.

The warning comes in the wake of escalation after Israel invaded southern Lebanon and Iran launched hundreds of missiles at its sworn enemy.

Dubai-based carrier Emirates Airline has announced the cancellation of all flights to and from Iraq (Basra and Baghdad), Iran (Tehran), and Jordan (Amman) on October 2 and 3, due to ongoing regional unrest.
