The eighth named storm of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season has developed. Tropical Storm Helene is exiting the western Caribbean and moving into the Gulf of Mexico. Helene was declared a tropical storm on Tuesday after a hurricane hunter flight measured peak winds of 96 km/h near the centre of the storm.
