The Rugrats are set to return to the big screen after more than 20 years in a new live-action/CG hybrid feature film. The original cartoon series, which focused on a group of babies and toddlers using their imaginations as they navigated every day life, premiered on Nickelodeon in 1993 and ran for 172 episodes over the next 13 years.

Jason Moore, whose credits include “Pitch Perfect” and the Tina Fey-Amy Poeheler comedy “Sisters,” is directing the film. “Saturday Night Live” actor Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidell penned the script. Karen Rosenfelt is producing, along with “Rugrats” co-creators Arlene Klasky and Gábor Csupó.
